MONDAY, OCTOBER 8

3:00 p.m.
Executive Board and trustees meeting in the Captain Cook Room.
Dinner will follow.
Sprigs will be in the Captain Room, Lawrence/Hull.
Plants will be stored in the Ocean Edge Room. (They will be moved later.)

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 9

7:00 a.m.
Registration and breakfast in your villa kitchenette, or on your own in the resort

8:45 a.m.
Early Arrivals Tour leaves for Provincetown, MA

9:30 a.m.
Arrive in Provincetown
Visit Provincetown Monument Museum

11:30 p.m.
Lunch on your own at the many and various restaurants. Lobster is the speciality.

12:30 - 4:30 p.m.
Optional whale watch Tour Provincetown is also nice to walk-about.

5:00 p.m.
Begin boarding the bus to return to Ocean Edge Resort.

6:30 p.m.
Attitude Adjustment hospitality and fellowship in the Carriage House

7:00 p.m.
Welcome Annual Meeting Dinner in the Addie Nickerson
Speaker: Bill Cannon, HSA member, Cape Talk
Following dinner, we will set up silent auction items, sprigs and plants.

Arrive at Sandwich Glass Museum, 129 Main St., Sandwich, MA
The Sandwich Historical Society and Glass Museum presents “Her Place by the Sea,”
featuring works from the collection of local artist, Alice Lucy Ware Armstrong (1876-1952).

11:00 - 1:30 p.m.
Arrive at Heritage Museum and Gardens for tour led by Les Lutz, Horticulture Director

1:30 - 2:15 p.m.
Boxed lunch at the Heritage Museum and Gardens café

2:15 - 3:45 p.m.
Heritage Museum: Indy 500 Auto exhibit, Wendell Minor Children’s Books, Carousel collection

4:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Crocker’s Garden Center, Brewster, MA

5:15 p.m.
Bill Cannon’s Holly Farm, Brewster, MA

After 6:30 p.m.
Dinner is on your own in one of the excellent hotel restaurants.

CAPE COD TOURS and SCHEDULES

EARLY ARRIVALS TOUR, TUESDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2018

7:00 a.m.
Registration and breakfast in your villa kitchenette, or on your own in the resort

8:45 a.m.
Board bus at Ocean Edge Resort for trip to Provincetown, MA

9:30 a.m.
Arrive in Provincetown, MA
Visit Provincetown Monument Museum commemorating the Mayflower Pilgrims’ first landing in the New World. Here the Pilgrims spent 5 weeks exploring the tip of Cape Cod, before they sailed on to Plymouth. They also drew up and signed the Mayflower Compact, which established the rule of law for the new land.

11:30 p.m.
Lunch on your own at one of the many restaurants

12:30 p.m.
Optional Tour: Whale-Watching and Marine Life Adventure 3 - 4 hour tour.
Enjoy the beauty of the Outer Cape viewing the beaches, lighthouses and the tip of Cape Cod.
A walk-about on your own around Provincetown is also nice. The great Outer Beach was
described by Henry Thoreau, “A man may stand there and put all America behind him.”

5:00 p.m.
Begin boarding the bus to return to Ocean Edge Resort

6:30 p.m.

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2018 TOUR SCHEDULE

7:00 a.m.
Registration and Breakfast in your villa kitchenette, or on your own in the Resort

8:30 a.m.
Board bus at Ocean Edge Resort for Sandwich Glass Museum

9:30 a.m.
Arrive at Sandwich Glass Museum, 129 Main St., Sandwich, MA
Artistry in glass has been synonymous with the town of Sandwich for almost two centuries. The
museum is pleased to present “Her Place by the Sea,” featuring works from the collection of
local artist, Alice Lucy Ware Armstrong. We will watch glass blowing demonstrations, an early
colonial industry.

11:00 - 1:30 p.m.
Arrive at Heritage Museum and Gardens for a tour led by Les Lutz, Horticulture Director.
Heritage Museums & Gardens is the largest public garden in Southern New England. Areas of
interest include more than a thousand varieties of trees, shrubs and flowers along beautiful and
easily walked paths. After lunch we will visit Heritage’s three gallery buildings.

1:30 - 2:15 p.m.
Boxed lunch at the Heritage Museum and Gaden

2:15 - 3:45 p.m.
Heritage Museum’s Indy 500 Auto Exhibit, Wendell Minor Children’s Books and Carousel
collection.

• “Wendell Minor’s America” presents the award-winning children’s book illustrator who was
inspired by his love of history, art, science, and the natural world. The exhibit was organized by
the Norman Rockwell Museum.

• American Art and Carousel Gallery: The 1908 carousel is one of the most popular attractions at
the Heritage Museum and has trilled riders for over a hundred years.

• Start Your Engines! Cars and Stars of the Indy 500 features some of the most renowned cars
from this high-octane event, which are on loan from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum.

4:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Crocker’s Garden Center, Brewster, MA
A plant nursery situated on seven acres of land featuring thousands of varieties of annuals, perennials,
trees and shrubs along with gardening accessories and decorations.

5:15 p.m.
A visit to Bill Cannon’s Holly Farm, Brewster, MA We’ve known Bill for many years, and have seen the sprig results of his efforts, as well as his many photographs and posters. Now we get to see them in person.

After 6:30 p.m.
Dinner is on your own in the hotel restaurants.
